Fosen
in brief
Fosen
is a peninsula on the north-west side of the Trondheim-fjord with
an exciting variety of landscapes, villages, farms, trading and
industrial activities. From a historical view , the area
also is interesting. Fosen has some of the oldest traces of
settlement in Norway, dating back 11000 years, and has been of
great importance for development of the Land. The history of Fosen
is mainly the tale of resourceful, hard-working people who slowly
but surely laid the foundation for today’s prosperity.
The
key-word for Fosen is diversity
Fosen
is a land of contrasts. Only a few kilometres separate coastal
landscapes, moors and quiet fjords from beautiful mountains and
valleys. In between these, you will find cultural landscapes,
forests, marshes, wild rivers and peaceful lakes and streams. And
the weather changes almost as quickly as the scenery. The
multitude of animal-, plant- and bird-species,
makes Fosen a fascinating area for hikers. Fosen
makes you feel alive……
Fishing
in Fosen
The strong tidal streams
caused by the water flowing in and out of the fjords makes this
one of the best areas for fishing in middle-Norway.
The types of fish to be
caught vary with the season. In spring the catch is mostly small
Cod, Haddock , Pollack and Tusk.
In July
the Mackerel arrives and a month or two later comes the
Herring. Together with this fishes comes bigger samples of Cod, Coalfish (Saithe) and the Spiked-dogfish.
Most
of the year, in the shallow water areas, you can get fishes like
Plaice and other flatfishes.
